Why I became a stylist
and why I get great passion from helping others to express their personality through what they wear
I think personal styling was always in my blood and as a child I would draw pictures of models in rags ,next I would draw another picture where she would be transformed into something totally amazing so maybe I was always into transformation. This started when I was about five years old. However I never realised that 45 years later I would be looking back and thinking that this was a sign of where I should have really taken my career.
If I could have my time again I would have gone to art college and gone into fashion design or maybe theatrical work. Instead I learnt everything through the school of hard knocks going from one job to another, really not knowing what I was good at.

You see as a child I was very shy and had difficulty in expressing myself, you could say I was very misunderstood though my childhood era. I was always different and at that time in my life that seemed wrong as everyone else appeared to be what was normal and what was meant to be. You could say my childhood was quite difficult although I wil not go into that too deeply. But basically confidence was not driven into me as a child. I was also bullied at school and in my final year I did not attend school because of this so came away with no qualifications and also a complex of thinking there was something wrong with me to get bullied at school. Of course I am a different person now.
Around the age of 18 I realised a way to stand out from the crowd and express my personalty. I would start to work on creating how I looked on the outside , then maybe people would understand what was going on in the inside. Only this had the adverse effect as the people I mixed with did not get me . Basically I was not mixing with creatives and people who are also a little bit different. Of course now I do this and my life is more more fulfilled.
“Around the age of 18 I realised a way to stand out from the crowd and express my personalty.”
Eventually I made a friend who had a big influence on my whole llife, she brought out my true inner self and together eventually we started up an events business together, I had no idea about anything. I taught myself how to use a computer, basically I had to learn everything the hard way. Eventually my friend came out of the business to have a baby and at this point it was making no money, It took three years and once I got my lovely admin girl it flew. I was reading self help books and business books like crazy and I was dooing what they told me to do. I now realised I was highly creative and full of ideas. For ten years I ran this business and it became profitable and successful. After this the market became saturated.
I took a year out not knowing what to do and after this I set up a photography studio with a photographer and I started to style on set doing make overs. It took off straight away and this is when I realised this was where my talent lay. I was getting so many testimonials from clients telling me how I had changed their life and how I had increased their confidence by making them look good. This made me consider going into fashion and working with independent designers . This was my next step and has taken me to where I am today looking to work with quality clothing brands now online.
I ran the pop up boutique previous to this for a year and things were fantastic, we had fashion shows, the boutique was on TV and I was selling to many interesting people and also people who needed styling help. Thank you also to all my lovely models who were also my friends. It was all so much fun.
Now the high street market is saturated and all the independants have dissapeared. Also the personal service. My job now is to provide a personal service online that is genuine. This will be through the website and also perdominatley through social media.
I can also provide a more one to one service if you use the contact form and ask me to send you out a questionnaire. I can either offer you a personal service or I can provide you with recommendations based on your answers.
My aim is to build up an online community of lovely ladies who want to express their personality inside and out. My job is to inspire… this is what makes me happy and this is what I am aiming to do.
As soon as I reallised this I went on a real journey of exploration. I had no formal education, I was bullied at school and stopped going so I ended up with no qualifications. I had no idea then what I was good at, I tried every job under the sun and I did not seem to fit in anywhere.
